Father Who Kicked His 3-Year-Old Daughter in the Face Has Been Taken Into Custody

A horrifying child abuse case occurred in Francisco Beltrão, a city in the Paraná state of Brezilya. Footage that sparked massive outrage on social media revealed a father violently kicking his 3-year-old daughter in the face in the middle of the street. Sivil Polis teams conducting the investigation into the incident took the suspect into custody and took his statement. It was learned that in his statement, the man cited his daughter's crying as the reason for abusing the child. Authorities immediately took protective measures for the safety of both the girl and the other members of the family.

Following the emergence of the footage, the scale of the incident began to be understood more clearly. In the camera recordings, the father is seen suddenly stopping while walking on the street with his 3-year-old daughter and 5-year-old stepson. Then, without any necessity, the man kicks the little child violently in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. Meanwhile, another man who tries to intervene is also attacked by the father. Even days after 5 Temmuz, the date when the initial footage was recorded, the public's reaction to the incident continued to grow.

The process of reporting the incident to the police began when the mother saw the footage on social media. After seeing these horrifying camera recordings spreading on social media accounts, the child's mother became aware of the situation and immediately went to the police station to file an official complaint. Subsequently, the Sivil Polis launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident and prepared an indictment charging the father with assault and battery. Additionally, the Koruma Kurulu (Conselho Tutelar), which is responsible for protecting children's rights, also became involved in the legal process and began closely monitoring the case.

As part of the Sivil Polis investigation, the suspect father went to the police station without a lawyer on Wednesday and gave a statement. Crying and claiming to be remorseful in his statement, the man alleged that he only punished the child because she was crying. Investigation Director Anderson Andrei, who is conducting the investigation, stated that following the suspect's statement, the man was not initially taken into custody because there was no official state of being caught in the act (flagrante) in the current situation of the incident. According to Brezilya legislation, the police cannot make an in-flagrante arrest after a certain period of time has passed since the violent incident occurred.

However, following the deepening of the investigation and the collection of evidence, the suspect was arrested by police forces on Perşembe. Authorities confirmed that in addition to the physical damage to the little girl's face, various injuries were also found on her brother. This finding suggested that the man was not involved in just a single incident and might be a more systematic abuser. The father is currently under investigation by the Sivil Polis, will remain in custody until the judicial process is completed, and will be brought before judicial authorities.
