Inspection of Music Activities in Andorra: 25 Investigations and 9 Sanctions in 1.5 Years

The Trade and Environment departments of the Andorra Government have initiated a comprehensive inspection process to ensure that businesses conducting music activities nationwide comply with legal regulations. The inspections in question cover a specific time period starting from January and continuing until 15 June. During this process, whether various businesses possessed the necessary licenses and whether they operated in compliance with current legislation were meticulously examined. In this context, it is reported that a total of seven official inspection investigations were opened during the mentioned period.

The reasons for the emergence of these seven inspection files are divided into two: complaints and official inspections. The remaining four investigations were turned into files as a result of official inspections (inspeccions d'ofici) conducted on the initiative of the authorities themselves. This situation shows that the government not only reacts to complaints but also tries to confirm that regulations are actively implemented in the field. It is stated that a total of 25 different investigation files regarding music activities were opened in Andorra within the last one and a half years. Furthermore, it was reported that due to the violations detected during the same process, a total of 9 administrative sanction decisions were imposed against businesses. It is considered that these sanctions were implemented to prevent illegal or non-compliant music events and to deter other businesses.

The active role of the Environment department in this process suggests that acoustic pollution and noise complaints that live music or loud events might generate are centralized.
