Operation against new generation criminal organizations in Ankara: 90 suspects detained

In the capital Ankara, a comprehensive and coordinated operation was conducted against criminal organizations defined as new generation. Within the scope of the operation carried out by security units, a total of 90 different individuals, identified as organization members or involved in criminal activities, were detained. Following the detentions, legal proceedings have commenced, and the processing of suspects at the police department continues meticulously. The suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued were sent to the on-duty magistrate and were remanded to prison on charges of 'establishing an organization to commit crime' and similar offenses. It was stated that the target group of the operation included managers within the hierarchical structure of the organization and financial resource providers. Ankara police stated that these new generation criminal organizations operate by using technology, unlike traditional methods. With the executed operation, numerous digital materials and documents considered to belong to these organizations were also seized among the items. Security officials emphasized that the operation is a significant achievement in terms of stopping the activities of these organizations in the city.

It was shared that new generation criminal organizations generally target young people and children, using modern methods to lure them into crime. Police reports stated that these organizations could operate in various fields such as cybercrime, drug trafficking, and fraud. In the data seized during the operation, it emerged that communication between organization members was carried out via encrypted applications. Deciphering these encrypted correspondences played a key role in the success of the operation and evidence-based findings were obtained. Officials stated that with the completion of legal processes, only a fraction of those arrested were among them, and measures such as judicial control could be applied to other suspects.

This major operation is considered one of the determined steps taken to reduce crime rates and ensure peace in Ankara.
