Father who kicked his 3-year-old daughter in Brazil claims in his statement that he 'lost his mind'

In the southwest of the Paraná state in Brazil, a father was detained after being caught on a security camera beating his 3-year-old daughter. In his statement, the man, who accepted his action, claimed that he did not intend to harm the child and that he "lost his mind" at the time of the incident. The security camera footage spread rapidly on social media, prompting authorities to intervene in the incident.

It was learned that at the time the incident occurred, the suspect was walking with his daughter and 5-year-old stepson after grocery shopping. The suspect argued that he got angry because his daughter was crying and that he was trying to silence her. When the suspect wondered during police interrogation who had reported the incident, authorities emphasized that their main priority was to elucidate this serious crime committed against the child.

It was revealed that one of the witnesses interviewed tried to intervene in the incident and was threatened by the suspect. Authorities conducting the investigation stated that there was evidence that the family had previously used violence as well, and that the 5-year-old child might have also been subjected to violence in recent weeks. While the victimized girl was reported to be in good condition during initial medical examinations, the police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
