Teams from the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate conducted a comprehensive operation against networks producing fake alcoholic beverages that directly threaten public health. As a result of intelligence work by law enforcement, it was determined that fake alcohol produced in different cities was being shipped to Bursa. In this context, a suspicious vehicle heading towards the city center on the Istanbul-Bursa highway was stopped by law enforcement. Following a detailed search of the vehicle, a large quantity of smuggled and fake alcohol materials was seized. A suspect identified as H.Y., who was determined to be connected to the incident, was taken into custody and brought to the police station.

The figures obtained by security forces in the operation revealed the scale of the illegal production. It was announced that among the seized materials were exactly 370 bottles of ready-to-drink fake alcoholic beverages. Additionally, a highly significant amount of 600 liters of ethyl alcohol, intended for use in the production phase, was seized. In addition to these, 80 empty bottles waiting to be filled with fake alcohol and 40 fake tax stamps were also among the items seized during the operation. Authorities also confiscated 100 bottle hoods and 45 bottle caps intended for packaging the fake products. These figures suggest that the seized materials catered to a large-scale, commercially purposed production facility.

In statements made by authorities, it was shared that the fake alcohol in question was sent to Bursa from production houses in different provinces. It was understood that ethyl alcohol was supplied as a raw material, turned into alcohol in illegal locations, and subsequently attempted to be distributed to consumers. This operation proved that the illicit alcohol trade is conducted not just in a single city, but through an intercity network. It is known that the primary goal of such criminal organizations is to obtain high financial gains by selling cheap, untaxed, and unregulated alcohol. Police units continue their cyber and field tracking efforts to identify all members of these organized crime networks.

Fake alcoholic beverages pose extremely significant dangers to public health due to the methanol and other toxic chemicals they contain. Consumption of such beverages can lead to tragic consequences ranging from permanent vision loss and organ failure to even death. The Police Department shows zero tolerance for illegally produced alcohol, not only for causing tax losses but also for threatening public health. Citizens were warned to stay away from such products due to their cheap prices and suspicious origins, and to seek medical attention if necessary. Public tips and reports against individuals or organizations producing and selling illicit alcohol are considered a crucial factor in increasing the success rate of operations.

It was reported that judicial processes were initiated following the operation and that the interrogation of the detained suspect is ongoing. Within the scope of the investigation, it was stated that it is being researched whether the suspect is merely a courier or a part of the production chain. Authorities from the Bursa Provincial Police Department promised in a written statement to the public that all criminal networks threatening public health will be exposed. It was emphasized that the efforts against organizations engaging in such illegal activities will continue with increasing meticulousness and determination. It was announced that similar operations will continue to be carried out in the future to fight for the health and safety of the public.
