Deadly traffic accident in Erzincan Refahiye: 1 dead, 3 injured

In a tragic traffic accident that occurred on the Erzincan-Sivas highway near Bulak village in the Refahiye district, a 17-year-old youth lost their life. The car went out of control after the driver lost steering control and rolled over. In the accident, a youth named Mert Efe A., who was in the vehicle, lost their life at the scene, while İshak A., Emine A., and Metin A. were among the casualties. This bitter incident caused officials and citizens to quickly rush to the area. In the initial examinations conducted at the scene, the vehicle's skidding distance and impact condition were examined in detail.

Immediately after the accident occurred, a report was made to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Numerous health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area instantly. A rapid rescue operation was initiated to reach the injured who were trapped inside the vehicle in a difficult situation. During these challenging rescue efforts, which were also supported by citizens, the teams carefully extracted the injured from where they were. It once again became evident how critical time is in such emergencies.

The injured removed from the vehicle were transferred to ambulances immediately after the initial interventions made at the scene. The casualties, who were initially secured, were transported to Refahiye Devlet Hastanesi and admitted to the emergency department there. Following examinations and initial interventions performed by doctors at the hospital, it was decided to transfer the injured so they could receive more advanced treatment. During this process, medical teams worked intensively to stabilize the condition of the injured.

As a result of the evaluations made, it was learned that the injured were transferred to Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi for more comprehensive treatment. It was reported that one of the three injured, whose treatments continue under the supervision of specialist doctors, is in a very serious condition. Hospital authorities stated that they are closely monitoring the condition of the severely injured patient. It was stated that the condition of the other injured is stable and their various treatments are ongoing. All kinds of medical interventions are being provided at the relevant hospital, and efforts are being made for the recovery of the injured.

A comprehensive investigation and examination were launched by the local prosecutor's office and gendarmerie teams regarding the incident. Authorities took the vehicle's technical condition, the physical characteristics of the road, and possible human factors under examination to investigate the causes of the accident. Following the examinations at the scene, the vehicle was towed to a parking lot for analysis, while it was stated that the statements of the driver and passengers would be taken. This bitter incident experienced in the region also reminded drivers that they need to be more careful in winter and mountainous road conditions. It was shared that the investigation process is ongoing and steps will be taken in line with the findings to be obtained.
