An agrarian reform beneficiaries organization (ARBO) belonging to indigenous peoples operating in the Sultan Kudarat province of the Philippines was deemed worthy of agricultural machinery and equipment support worth 317,000 pesos by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR). The cooperative named Tribal Christian Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (Tricrifac), located in the Santo Niño neighborhood of the Bagumbayan district, received this equipment in order to prepare for the challenges created by climate change and to increase their production capacity. The said support was implemented as part of the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program (CRFPSP-SLSDAA). Authorities emphasize that indigenous communities play a crucial role in rural development and that supporting them is essential for regional economic growth. This step also aims for indigenous farmers to not only make a living but also become competitive producers.

DAR Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III stated that it is of great importance to provide agrarian reform beneficiaries with the necessary services and support completely. Estrella expressed that such government supports are indispensable for farmers to be able to stand on their own feet and continuously improve their agricultural communities. Additionally, he added that as a department, indigenous peoples are considered active partners in rural development and their contributions are appreciated. The machinery and equipment assistance shows that the government does not only limit itself to land distribution but aims for farmers to achieve a sustainable economic model. Estrella's statements reflect the government's determination to improve the lives of disadvantaged groups in rural areas.

DAR-Sultan Kudarat provincial agrarian reform program officer Rhea Marie P. Betque shared the details of the delivered equipment with the public. Within the scope of the support package, farmers were given one coffee huller, one coffee mill, 13 knapsack sprayers, 25 weed cleaning machines, and 25 sacks of fertilizer. This equipment is expected to specifically accelerate coffee processing and significantly reduce production costs. With the use of the new equipment, it is aimed to increase quality coffee harvest and for the products to gain value in the market. Betque stated that she believes these concrete investments will ensure that coffee production becomes an important economic lifeline for the region.

Authorities foresee that these new technological tools provided will make indigenous farmers in the region much more efficient in production and processing stages. Thanks to the decrease in production expenses and the increase in processing capacities, it is thought that indigenous coffee producers will be able to better evaluate the economic opportunities they may encounter. The increase in efficiency provided by the machines will allow farmers to sell their products with higher added value. Betque added that by making indigenous farmers more productive and competitive through production and processing equipment, they are preparing them for upcoming commercial opportunities. Such modernization steps will also gradually increase the visibility of local agricultural products in national and international markets.

During the delivery of the equipment, it was also decided to establish a legal framework between DAR and Tricrifac. With the Trust Agreement signed between the parties, it was accepted that the cooperative will be responsible for the proper, manageable, and careful use and maintenance of all machinery and equipment donated to it. This agreement was implemented to prevent the waste of resources provided by the state and to guarantee the longevity of the equipment. Conducting the process in a transparent and accountable manner sets an example for other agricultural support projects in the future. In the long term, this step is expected to permanently raise the welfare level of indigenous communities in the Sultan Kudarat province.
