Two compatriots of Nigerian killed in Ghana on 11 July taken into custody

Following the killing of a 36-year-old Nigerian man in Ghana's Tamale, police have taken two Nigerian suspects into custody who are alleged to be connected to the murder. The incident emerged on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at a residence in the Sanzirigu area. Authorities stated that the victim was found dead in his bedroom with a deep cut on his forehead and a towel stuffed in his mouth.

A wooden club, believed to have been used in the incident, and some other evidence were seized for forensic examination. The suspects, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were captured in an intelligence-led operation in Tatale, located on the Ghana-Togo border. During the police search, numerous items were confiscated, including mobile phones, laptops, and jewelry thought to belong to the victim.

During their interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to agreeing to kill the victim as a result of a dispute over the sharing of proceeds from internet fraud activities. While the two suspects are being held in police custody, they are expected to be brought before a judge at a court in Tamale on Monday, 13 July 2026. It was reported that investigation efforts are ongoing to conduct comprehensive forensic examinations and obtain CCTV footage.
