Brawl Erupts in Georgian Parliament During Spring Session's Final Plenary

A physical altercation broke out in the Georgian parliament on June 26 between MPs from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition For Georgia party during the spring session's last plenary, where Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented his annual report. The fight began after opposition MP Giorgi Sharashidze made remarks about Kobakhidze's perceived subordinate role during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit. Videos showed several MPs, including three-time Olympic weightlifting champion Lasha Talakhadze, engaging in fistfights. Emergency medical services were called to the scene.
