UK summons Iranian diplomat over IRGC-linked proxy group's attacks in Europe

The United Kingdom summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires in London following allegations that the IRGC's Quds Force has directed proxy groups to carry out a series of attacks across Europe. In the meeting, held at the instruction of Foreign Secretary David Lammy, the British government claimed that the group in question attacked targets connected to pro-Jewish and pro-Israeli communities between March and May.

The UK government imposed sanctions using national security powers targeting the group, stating that these steps aimed to prevent hostile activities conducted by foreign states through proxy organizations. Officials claimed that Iran has not halted these operations despite numerous warnings, describing the situation as a threat to national security. The Iranian Embassy in London had not made any official statement regarding the summons process as of the publication date.

The Tehran administration reiterated that it rejects all Western allegations of organizing attacks abroad through proxy groups and described the UK's steps as a violation of international law. This diplomatic crisis comes at a time when tensions between the US and Iran are escalating in the Strait of Hormuz and regional conflicts are on the rise.
