Israel Informed the US: Alleged Iranian Plot to Assassinate Trump

The Israeli government has conveyed intelligence information to the United States administration regarding an alleged plan by the Islamic Republic of Iran to prepare an assassination attempt against US President Donald Trump. These claims were first published in The Wall Street Journal and were later confirmed by the American broadcaster CNN through its sources. The report referenced various anonymous sources said to be close to the matter, whose names were not disclosed. The details of the assassination plan in question or specific information on how the operation would be carried out have not been shared with the public for now. However, the seriousness of the report has increased the sensitivity of the international community and, particularly, the American security agencies on the matter.

According to a CNN source, this critical warning from Israel was delivered to Washington this week. Other sources suggest that the information provided by Israel went no further than confirming the suspicions already held by American intelligence services. Conversely, another source claims that the warning from Israel was entirely new and pointed to a very specific assassination plot. The White House has refused to deny or confirm these media reports, avoiding making an official statement on the matter. Instead, it is noted that the issue is being followed up through Trump's previous statements.

These intelligence claims parallel the striking statements made by President Donald Trump during the NATO Summit held in Ankara. At a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump stated that he was on various lists by those who wanted to kill him, using the expression, "I'm lucky, but this may not last long." Additionally, Trump announced at the same time that he considered the current ceasefire with Iran to be completely "over." According to New York Times reports, during the summit in Turkey, US security measures were raised to the highest level, and the President was kept on the older presidential aircraft, deemed safer against external threats, rather than the new plane provided by Qatar.

These developments come at a time when relations between Israel and the US—and particularly between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump—have entered a highly complex period due to the Iran war. While the US continues to be Israel's greatest ally, Trump's public criticism of Netanyahu, following Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon endangering the ceasefire and negotiation processes with Tehran, increased the tension. In fact, some American sources interpret Israel's raising of the assassination allegations against Trump as a strategic move aimed at influencing the President's decisions regarding increasing military operations against Iran or returning to the negotiating table. On the other hand, an Israeli source reached by the New York Post reported that the Tel Aviv administration is fully prepared to restart military operations against Iran upon US request.

Following this, the Tehran administration explicitly threatened retaliation, particularly against Trump. Finally, at the funeral ceremony held yesterday for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who lost his life in the attacks initiated by Israel and the US in February, various slogans calling for the killing of the US President were chanted.
