Ağbaba and Köksal Detained in Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office's Investigations

The Ministry of Justice announced to the public the implementation of a significant detention decision within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office and focusing on allegations of corruption. According to the official statement, it was identified that one of the individuals processed within the scope of the investigation was Ahmet Can Ağbaba, the nephew of CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba. This development created a remarkable political resonance as it involved a member of a political family in a corruption investigation.

According to information obtained from the same Ministry sources, another investigation file centered in Istanbul has also been put into play. This second operation contains allegations regarding drug trafficking and prostitution activities, and within this scope, former Special Private Secretary Sadık Can Köksal, who served in Çankaya Municipality, was detained. Köksal's previous involvement in the municipality management in Ankara's Çankaya district led to the detention raising questions about other possible connections within local governments and the bureaucracy.

The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office is at the center of the investigation in both events, and this indicates that the legal processes are proceeding in a coordinated manner.
