Three Masked Robbers Attack Agritourism Facility in Italy

Terrifying moments occurred during the night between Sunday, 5 July and Monday, 6 July at the agritourism facility named Cà Fenile, located in the town of Alzano Lombardo in the Bergamo province of Italy. Around 3 a.m., three masked individuals suddenly raided the facility's accommodation area on Via Brumano. At the time of the incident, the 47-year-old male owner of the facility, his wife, their children, and some guests staying at the premises were inside the building. The attackers terrorized the surroundings and quickly attempted to take control. The terrifying minutes experienced created a highly traumatic event for the facility's staff and guests.

During the armed or unarmed robbery, the three thugs physically assaulted the 47-year-old male owner of the facility. The perpetrators then managed to quickly escape the scene after stealing the cash and valuable watches found on the premises. Although the guests and the operator's family were in danger during the incident, it was reported that they were not directly targeted by the robbers. It was assessed that the attackers focused solely on financial gain, prioritizing escape over intentionally harming people. This striking incident has led to the questioning of security measures in the region.

Immediately after the incident, shortly after 3 a.m., a report was made to the emergency number 112. The 118 emergency medical teams, rapidly dispatched to the area, arrived at the scene with two ambulances and a mobile doctor vehicle (auto-medical). After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the attacked 47-year-old operator was transported to Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo. Following emergency treatments and detailed health checks at the hospital, it was announced that the man's condition was not critical and his life was not in danger. The individual was discharged in the morning and sent home.

Following the incident, teams from the Bergamo Carabinieri Provincial Command launched a comprehensive investigation. Security forces are conducting a meticulous effort to determine how the robbery took place, how the attackers entered the facility, and their escape route. Additionally, Investigating Prosecutor Carlotta De Luca, acting on behalf of the Bergamo Republic Prosecutor's Office, is closely monitoring the file and personally coordinating the investigation. It was reported that alongside fingerprint and camera examinations conducted at the crime scene, witness statements have also been linked to the investigation. Security measures have been increased to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent potential similar incidents in the region.

Such regional theft and robbery incidents stand out as a serious source of concern in Italy's rural tourism facilities. Agritourism operators attract customers due to the natural beauty of their locations, but they can also experience security vulnerabilities because of their isolated positions. This incident in Alzano Lombardo makes it mandatory for similar facilities to reconsider precautions such as security cameras and alarm systems. It is emphasized that the local community and tourism operators must establish closer cooperation with police forces. Italian authorities plan to deploy additional patrol teams when necessary to both ensure the safety of the local population and protect tourist businesses.
