Nanaimo Clippers' 2026-27 BCHL Season Schedule Announced

The Nanaimo Clippers ice hockey team has officially announced its British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) game schedule for the 2026-27 season. The new season will kick off on 18 September with an opening game against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at Frank Crane Arena. Fans will have the opportunity to watch their team play a total of 26 home games, while 26 matches will also be played on the road. In addition, two extra matches are planned to be played as part of the BCHL Showcase, although their dates and locations have not yet been finalized. The excitement generated by the team that advanced to the finals last season is expected to continue this year.

The team's home game schedule is generally concentrated on Friday evenings, and 15 games will be played on Fridays throughout the season. In addition, five games are planned for Saturdays and four games for Sundays. The schedule includes special events that will attract the fans' interest; for example, a school day matinee has been organized to be played on Wednesday, 3 March in the afternoon. Two separate matches have also been added to the calendar for Wednesday evenings. This comprehensive game distribution shows that the club aims to bring the city's fan base together regularly throughout the season.

One of the most striking details of the schedule is the matches against teams that are newly joining the league or will be faced for the first time. In September, the Blackfalds Bulldogs team will visit Nanaimo for the first time in their history, a situation that has created great excitement in the region. In mid-October, the team will go on road trips to Sherwood Park and Okotoks, and the BCHL Showcase games will likely be combined with this Alberta trip. In November, another Alberta team, Spruce Grove, will visit Nanaimo, and this match stands out as one of the significant innovations of the season.

In the later stages of the season, the most critical journey for the Nanaimo Clippers will be a long road trip to Prince George at the end of February. The Clippers, who normally play regular games against Interior division rivals, will not face any teams from the Interior West Division this season. The absence of matches against traditional and established rivals such as Trail, Vernon, and Salmon Arm creates a distinct difference in this season's schedule. Instead, the team will compete in the five-team Coastal West Division, which also includes teams from Alberni Valley, Cowichan Valley, Victoria, and Powell River.

The club will take to the ice with a strong roster to pick up where it left off in the BCHL Final series it reached in May and to realize the dream of a championship. The team's participation in the league championship series marks the tenth time this has happened, proving how deep and successful a history the organization has. The Nanaimo Clippers' last league championship victory dates back to 2007. The fact that the team will play 10 of its final 18 games in front of its home crowd is considered a huge advantage for the play-off race.
