49 of RSP's 99 elected central members are women

Nearly half of the elected central committee members of Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are women. Out of 99 elected members, 49 are women, representing 49.49 percent. The party's statutes allow for 99 elected members, with the remaining 51 to be nominated by the party chairperson. All elected central committee members from Bagmati Province are women. Nepal's constitution and Political Parties Act require at least 33 percent women's representation in every party committee. The fact that women won over 75 percent of geographic seats and around 40 percent of open competitive seats signals a strong assertion of women's leadership in the party's policymaking.
