Russia hacked civil security cameras to spy on NATO bases

The Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) and the Dutch Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) uncovered an extensive cyber espionage operation by Russia. According to The Telegraph, Kremlin-backed hackers used internet-connected civil cameras to monitor NATO facilities.

It was reported that the operation specifically targeted devices located on military logistics routes. It was stated that thanks to this method, Russian hackers were able to track weapons shipments and military movements. The attack highlights how easily civil infrastructures can be exploited for military intelligence purposes.
