Fire at PKNS Complex in Shah Alam brought under control, no loss of life

The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) officially announced that the facility returned to normal working operations yesterday, thanks to the implementation of all necessary procedures and security measures following the fire that occurred in its central complex in Shah Alam on Thursday afternoon. In a statement, the institution indicated that the fire is believed to have originated from the Air Cooled Package Unit (ACPU) panel located in the air processing unit room on the first floor, resulting in the temporary shutdown of the electrical and air conditioning system for safety reasons.

Immediately following the incident, the complex management activated emergency procedures and decided to evacuate the Phase 1 section of the building via the general announcement system, while security teams quickly conducted inspections. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department intervened, successfully bringing the fire under control in a short time and preventing the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. Authorities emphasized that the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation and technical inspections are ongoing.

The safety of visitors, tenants, and employees present in the area at the time of the fire was largely not jeopardized, and it was reported that no panic or chaos occurred during the necessary evacuation procedures. Thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of the fire team, the event was prevented from turning into a greater disaster, and it was stated that no serious damage was detected to the structural integrity of the building. Cleaning and repair works, which began after the fire was extinguished, enabled the facility to reopen for service the next day, yesterday.

The technical malfunction in the air processing unit room, determined as the starting point of the fire, ensured the building's fire detection and security systems activated in time. Although the electrical and air conditioning systems were temporarily shut down, the fire remained effective only in a limited area and did not harm the surrounding structure. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Director Ashrul Riezal Asbar announced that the operation was completed successfully and that the most comforting news was that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.

The Shah Alam PKNS Complex serves as an important center for commercial and administrative activities in the state of Selangor, and the speed of measures taken in such an emergency demonstrates the institution's crisis management capacity.
