Fire Truck and Car Collide in Sparta: 2 Dead

Two people lost their lives as a result of a tragic accident on the national highway between Sparta and Tripoli, in the Lakonia region of Greece. The accident occurred when a fire truck and a car collided head-on. It was announced that the victims were an elderly driver and his spouse traveling in the car. It was reported that the car carrying the elderly couple went off the road after losing control and crossed into the opposite lane. The car collided with a fire truck that was being rapidly dispatched to the scene to intervene in a forest fire that broke out in Agia Eleni, in the Troizinia region. It was learned that weather conditions were quite challenging at the time of the accident and heavy rain was falling in the area. The heavy rain, which made the road extremely slippery, is considered an effective factor in the occurrence of the accident. Rescue teams, quickly dispatched to the scene, removed the bodies of the elderly driver and his wife from the trapped vehicle. A firefighter in the fire truck sustained minor injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital. It was reported that the hospitalized firefighter is in good condition and his life is not in danger.
