The delivery company Wolt has announced a new global initiative called "Moving the City, Responsibly", aimed at improving transportation culture and road safety in urban areas. While the first steps of this comprehensive project are being implemented in Yunanistan, it is carried out in close collaboration with the Panos Mylonas Enstitüsü (I.O.A.S.), which operates in the field of road safety. The initiative is also being realized under the auspices of the Yunanistan Altyapı ve Ulaştırma Bakanlığı and with the support of the Uluslararası Otomobil Federasyonu (FIA). Its main objective is to foster a culture of coexistence amidst the complexity of urban life and to create a much safer working environment, especially for couriers. This step stands out not merely as a corporate social responsibility project, but as a structural transformation that brings together all stakeholders of the urban ecosystem.

As part of the initiative in question, a large-scale field research was conducted with the participation of couriers, businesses, and ordinary citizens to form the basis of the process. One of the most striking findings of the research revealed the fact that road safety is not solely an individual matter. On the contrary, it was emphasized that this situation is directly related to how the entire city network, from pedestrians to vehicle users, interacts with one another. On the other hand, it was also determined that there is already an extremely strong safety awareness among delivery couriers; for example, 98 percent of the participants stated that they always wear helmets. This positive data proves how valuable the targeted interventions made to further advance existing good practices are.

In light of the research data obtained, the project was built on three main pillars: research, training-awareness, and increasing public awareness. At the heart of the initiative lies the Digital Information and Training Platform, which will serve as a reference point for the entire distribution ecosystem and the general public. Featuring a comprehensive training program consisting of six different themes and informative videos for couriers, this platform will be a significant part of the integration process of new couriers into the system. Additionally, the microsite will be kept open to all users in the city, offering safe travel tips, rewards, and incentives that everyone can benefit from. This digital approach aims to make the safety culture permanent through technology integration.

In addition to the digital platform, the field aspect is also being strengthened through the collaboration of Wolt and the road safety institute, with plans to organize various training seminars. These trainings have been specially designed to cover restaurant and business owners, Wolt's service teams, and representatives of courier unions. In this project, which is not only aimed at adults, trainings are also extended to primary and middle school levels with the aim of acquiring safe transportation awareness at an early age. Thanks to the programs to be implemented in more than 12 schools in the region, approximately 600 students will be reached, and they will be taught the fundamentals of responsible behavior in traffic through practical lessons. This comprehensive training network offers a holistic approach covering a wide segment of society, from the delivery sector to education.

Speaking at the event, Yunanistan Altyapı ve Ulaştırma Bakanı Hristos Dimas pointed out that couriers work under extremely difficult conditions, under time pressure, heavy traffic, and adverse weather conditions. Dimas stated that these working conditions make the safety of couriers the number one priority, emphasizing that their physical integrity must be protected. Furthermore, referring to the recent data of the Avrupa Komisyonu, he proudly stated that Yunanistan is the second country in the Avrupa Birliği with the highest decrease in fatal traffic accidents (22% decrease). Wolt executives stated that this initiative is the largest responsible transportation project the company has implemented worldwide, expressing their determination to add value to cities. This synergy, formed by bringing together all stakeholders, strengthens the vision of making city life not only safer but also more livable.
