Fatal accident on the way back from a funeral in Amasya: 3 people from the same family lost their lives

A tragic traffic accident experienced by a family returning from a funeral in Amasya has caused deep sorrow in the region. The Bilir family, who were returning to their hometown of Amasya after attending a funeral ceremony in Antalya, had a fatal accident only 25 kilometers away from their home. In the accident, which occurred as a result of a collision between a light commercial vehicle and a tractor, three people from the same family lost their lives, while a total of three people, including those in the vehicle and the tractor driver, sustained various injuries. Following the incident, health and security teams dispatched to the region made a great effort to intervene in the shattered vehicle. Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine how the accident occurred and any possible negligence.

According to the information obtained, the light commercial vehicle with the license plate 05 AER 839, a Tofaş Fiat Doblo, was being driven by Mehmet Bilir. The accident occurred when the family arrived near the Gökhöyük junction, affiliated with the Amasya center, after a long and tiring journey. The vehicle under Mehmet Bilir's control collided with a tractor with the license plate 05 ACM 679, driven by Osman Şahin. With the impact of the severe collision, the light commercial vehicle lost control of the road and swerved toward the ditch. The role of the junction and road conditions where the accident occurred in the crash has come to the agenda due to similar incidents experienced in the region.

The first person who was severely injured in the fatal incident and lost their life at the scene was the driver of the vehicle, Mehmet Bilir. His brother Yavuz Bilir and their elderly mother Fatma Bilir, who were injured by the impact of the accident, were immediately transferred by ambulances to the nearest medical facility after initial interventions at the scene. Unfortunately, Yavuz and Fatma Bilir, who were in critical condition while being transported to the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions and passed away. Thus, the same family experienced the pain of losing three people at once in a single accident. Health teams worked intensively during the intervention process at the scene to stabilize the condition of the other injured individuals.

It was learned that among the other injured in the accident were Müzeyyen and Selma Bilir from the Bilir family. In addition, Osman Şahin, the driver of the tractor involved in the collision, was also affected by the accident and sustained various injuries. The three injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances after initial measures were taken at the scene, and were placed under treatment in intensive care units. It was reported that doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the injured, and it is being investigated whether the seriousness of the health condition of the tractor driver and the family members persists. Security forces are trying to clarify the dynamics of the incident in line with their statements.

In addition to the authorities who inspected the scene, citizens passing by the area stated that the accident broke their hearts. Yılmaz Kara, a local resident, stated that the route where the accident occurred is constantly under construction and road work, and this situation makes traffic dangerous. Kara also emphasized that due to the lack of sufficient warning signs and precautions because of the road work, small and large-scale accidents occur very frequently at this junction. Authorities have taken both the drivers and infrastructure deficiencies under examination to determine the fault rate at the point where the accident occurred. This tragic incident has brought the regional traffic safety and road standards back into question.
