Biochemistry Days in Argentina: Diagnoses Confirmed with Microscope and Artificial Intelligence

Gobernador Centeno Hastanesi, located in the La Pampa province of Arjantin, has completed its preparations to host the fourth regional biochemistry days. This academic event, jointly organized by the central laboratory, microbiology, and hematology units, aims to bring together all biochemistry professionals working in the public and private systems. According to a statement made by hospital officials, the program, which will take place tomorrow morning between 09.00 and 13.00 in the afternoon, will be held in the hospital's conference hall. The event is expected to make significant contributions to the professional development of biochemistry professionals and to share the latest developments in the sector.

Fernanda Casale, head of the hematology department, stated that the event was planned as part of the 15 Haziran Biochemistry Day celebrations. Casale, an experienced professional who has been working at the hospital for 25 years, emphasized that the main purpose of such organizations is to exchange knowledge and meet with colleagues across the province. Unlike in previous years, it was decided to use a format of case presentations and research projects this year instead of classic academic speeches. Thanks to this innovative approach, it is aimed that laboratories from all over the province can participate equally in the event, regardless of their size or geographical location. In total, eight different scientific studies from various cities and private institutions are planned to be presented.

Casale, who made statements before the event, underlined the technological revolution taking place in the field of oncological hematology. She noted that the use of advanced diagnostic tools such as flow cytometry has enabled much more precise results in the diagnosis of diseases. Stating that examinations under a microscope only put a 'first name' to pathologies, the expert expressed that with an advanced technique called immunolabeling (immunomarcación), a 'last name' is added to these diagnoses. She stated that this method offers extremely detailed information about the type and subtypes of the disease, directly shaping the treatment processes. According to Casale, thanks to these technological developments, treatment methods have become more accurate, the side effects experienced by patients have decreased, and recovery rates have increased significantly.

Today, it is noted that the results of immunolabeling procedures in the hospital's oncological hematology department are obtained within 24 hours or less. The fact that these processes, which took much longer in past years, can now be completed on the same day also accelerates the treatment initiation process for patients. These developments are of great importance not only in the diagnosis phase but also in the follow-up processes of patients. Thanks to early and precise diagnosis, it becomes possible to initiate the most appropriate treatment protocols for patients. Experts added that these developments are revolutionary in the field of oncology and directly affect the quality of life of patients.

Casale also touched upon the increasingly important role of artificial intelligence in the field of biochemistry, noting that this technology can be a wonderful tool if used correctly. She stated that artificial intelligence tools are important for directing patients with complex diagnoses, such as leukemia, to reliable sources of information. However, warning that artificial intelligence-based search engines and platforms may not always provide accurate and reliable information, the expert emphasized that these systems must be used consciously. Stating that the future will progress much faster in these areas, Casale added that it is now inevitable for healthcare professionals to receive artificial intelligence training. In light of all these innovations, the hybrid biochemistry days to be held at Gobernador Centeno Hastanesi will be offered to participants free of charge, and certificates will be given to everyone who attends.
