Cause of death of woman who died at illegal aesthetic center in Bogotá is under investigation

In Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, 52-year-old Adriana Manotas Rodríguez lost her life during a liposuction operation at an illegal aesthetic surgery center. It was revealed that the location where the incident occurred operated as a hidden operating room behind a hair salon facade. Forensic experts have intensified the investigation to determine the exact medical factors that led to the woman's death.

According to prosecution sources, the main hypothesis of the death points to a possible poisoning condition linked to the improper or excessive administration of drugs during the operation. Due to the patient's rapid deterioration, the staff at the center could not stabilize her. Footage captured by security cameras shows the woman being carried out of the building and taken to the emergency room.

Manotas was brought in critical condition to the Cruz Roja SAMU de la Alquería medical center in the area, where she passed away. While awaiting the autopsy results to be clarified, authorities state that the use of expired or counterfeit medications in illegal aesthetic centers is a known risk. The unauthorized administration of potent anesthetics in such places significantly increases the risk of fatal cardiac arrest.
