DIMO, one of Sri Lanka's leading companies, has successfully completed the development of four new solar power plants in the Galle region, adding a total of 18 megawatts of clean energy capacity to the country's national grid. This significant step further strengthens the company's portfolio in the renewable energy sector while making a substantial contribution to Sri Lanka's sustainable energy goals. The facilities are located in the Rathgama and Akmeemana areas and were implemented as Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects through wholly-owned subsidiaries of DIMO. These massive projects serve as a concrete indicator of the country's ongoing efforts to increase its renewable energy capacity. Furthermore, the commissioning of these plants plays a critical role in ensuring Sri Lanka's energy supply security.

Under these projects, a 3-megawatt solar power plant owned by DIMO Solar Galle (Private) Limited was commissioned. In addition, three more large-scale plants owned by the subsidiaries named DIMO Solar Galle Two, DIMO Solar Galle Three, and DIMO Solar Galle Four were integrated into the national grid. Each of these three large facilities individually adds a 5-megawatt solar energy capacity to the national grid. Thus, this massive investment in a single region has provided a tremendous boost to the country's energy production infrastructure. The company's corporate structure demonstrates how systematically and strategically its energy investments are being carried out through various subsidiaries.

With the commissioning of these new plants, DIMO's total solar energy production capacity has reached 25.845 MW (AC), marking another milestone for the company. This figure stands as the clearest proof of the company's continuous and steadfast investments in sustainable energy infrastructure. These projects, which are not limited to mere capacity increases, also hold great importance due to their environmental benefits. Thanks to this massive infrastructure developed, approximately 12.945 tCO2e (tons of carbon dioxide equivalent) of greenhouse gas emissions will be prevented from being released into the atmosphere every year. The company's clean energy vision is not limited to commercial growth alone; it also serves global priorities such as combating climate change in a responsive manner.

Looking at the energy production dimension, these four solar power plants are expected to generate an annual average of 31.8 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy. This massive amount of energy generated holds the potential to meet the electricity needs of approximately 37.937 households in Sri Lanka. This situation demonstrates that these projects are not just profit-oriented ventures for energy companies, but also create social benefits that directly touch the daily lives of the local population. Delivering the clean energy generated to tens of thousands of households will increase energy accessibility in the country while also helping to reduce the energy costs of these households. Such comprehensive projects create a multifaceted impact that channels into the national economy while enhancing public welfare.

In an overall assessment, DIMO's new investments in the Galle region are in a highly critical position for Sri Lanka to achieve its long-term environmental sustainability and energy security goals. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels stands out as one of the fundamental strategies that will prevent both economic vulnerabilities and environmental risks. This additional 18-megawatt capacity integrated into the national grid represents a solid step taken towards sustainable development goals. These projects once again prove DIMO's leadership in the renewable energy sector and establish a strong foundation for future investments. It is evident that such innovative and large-scale energy initiatives, which support local communities and protect the environment, will serve as inspiring role models in the country's future green energy transition.
