DMM refutes allegations of terror attack in Ankara prior to NATO Summit

The Communication Directorate's Centre for Combating Disinformation (DMM) announced that allegations recently circulating on social media regarding a terror attack to be carried out in Ankara are entirely baseless. In the official statement, it was noted that such news emerged in connection with the NATO Summit process and aimed to create an atmosphere of fear and panic in society. Authorities emphasized that such speculative content attempts to manipulate public opinion through psychological warfare methods and aims to undermine security perceptions.

In the assessment made by the DMM, it was stated that shares containing such disinformation were malicious attempts to disrupt the environment of peace and security. The Center announced to the public that relevant security institutions have taken and meticulously implemented all necessary measures in the city at the highest level. In this context, citizens were warned not to heed provocative content and to approach speculative information from sources other than official officials with suspicion.

The statement, which drew attention to the ongoing legal processes, shared information that steps have been taken regarding individuals or groups seeking to create anxiety and chaos in society. Officials added that security forces are prepared against all kinds of threats and that such psychological operations will be thwarted.
