Dustin Hoffman and Maggie Gyllenhaal Open 60th Karlovy Vary Film Festival

One of the Czech Republic's most prestigious cultural events, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, entered its 60th year with a magnificent ceremony held at the beginning of June. The festival commenced with the participation of leading figures from the film world, with Hollywood stars Dustin Hoffman and Maggie Gyllenhaal taking center stage at the opening. Additionally, famous actors such as Jesse Eisenberg and Harvey Keitel, who contributed to the project, were also present at the event, once again showcasing the international importance of the festival. The opening night offered an unforgettable visual feast to the attendees, not limited only to film screenings.

Hotel manager Jindřich Řičař, one of the festival's founders and organizers, was enthusiastically applauded when invited to the stage as the architect of the ceremony. Řičař gave a sincere speech about the festival's history and the experience brought by 60 years, thanking everyone who started this long journey. Dustin Hoffman, one of the special guests on stage, made a gesture to the Řičař family, the festival hosts, by calling his wife and grandchildren to the stage, and this emotional moment received a standing ovation. Hoffman's gesture went down in history as one of the most striking moments of the night, combining Hollywood seriousness with the festival's warm family atmosphere.

One of the most striking parts of the opening ceremony was dedicated to the memory of the late director Miloš Forman. A short video presentation prepared for the master Forman was shown, and his life story was told. Then, his wife Martina Formanová and family took the stage and asked those in the hall to observe a minute of silence for her deceased husband. Everyone in the hall stood up to remember Forman, one of the symbols of the festival, with respect and longing. His daughter Ester Forman delivered an emotional speech, speaking about her father's contributions to the art world and this festival.

During the artistic segment of the ceremony, popular singer Vojtěch Dyk took the stage to give a special concert. Dyk sang songs that marked the romantic years of the festival's honorary guest Dustin Hoffman's youth, adding a nostalgic atmosphere to the night. Following the concert, the festival's official closing and birthday celebration was crowned with a grand drone show. Drones floating in the skies of Karlovy Vary celebrated the festival's 60th year in the sky by creating visual effects in the air and greeting the public. The night turned into a party continuing with these colorful displays.
