State and Business World on the Field After the Lumber Factory Fire in Düzce

The major fire that broke out at the forest products and lumber factory operating in the Yeni Karaköy locality of Düzce caused serious concern in the region. Immediately after the incident, the city officials who arrived in the region made a get-well visit to the factory to initiate the healing process. While damage assessment efforts are being carried out rapidly after the flames were brought under control, efforts were made to boost the morale of the enterprise managers and employees. The delegation visiting the fire zone included Düzce Governor Mehmet Makas, Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü, and Düzce Trade and Industry Chamber (TSO) President Erdoğan Bıyık. The gathering of senior managers reveals how the state and the business world act as one in similar moments of crisis. The delegation received a detailed briefing from the officials on the ground regarding the extinguishing and cooling efforts carried out since the first moments of the fire. During the inspections, the protocol members met with the factory managers and explicitly stated that they stand by them during this difficult process. It is aimed that the steps to be taken for the debris removal and reconstruction process will also gain momentum as a result of these visits.

The fact that there was no loss of life thanks to the meticulous work of the teams dispatched to the scene since the first moment the fire broke out was the biggest source of consolation in the negative picture. However, comprehensive planning is required to rebuild the factory, which suffered millions of liras in material damage. Enterprise officials stated that the rapid intervention of the local administrative authorities and fire teams in such a major disaster prevented the damage from growing even further. Düzce Governor Mehmet Makas, who made statements during the inspections, conveyed his heartfelt get-well wishes to the partners of the factory and all the employees. Governor Makas, who particularly emphasized that they always stand by the strong industrial organizations that make great contributions to the employment and local economy of Düzce, added that all the resources of the state will be mobilized in such emergencies. Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü also stated that they will provide all kinds of logistical support as a local government to protect the production power of the city.

It is stated that an intensive coordination network has been woven among the relevant institutions in order to compensate for the material damage as soon as possible. The delegation, which also included TSO President Erdoğan Bıyık, listened to the demands of the business world and provided information about investment and incentive processes.
