Lowest pension increases to 23 thousand 552 lira: Payment schedule and details

With the new regulation directly concerning 5.1 million SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in Turkey, the lowest pension is being increased to 23 thousand 552 lira. The prepared bill is planned to be enacted quickly after the discussions in the TBMM Plan and Budget Committee. The government is working intensively to ensure this raise is implemented in time for the July pension payment period.

If the legislative schedule is completed on time, the new raised pensions will be deposited directly into the retirees' accounts. SSK retirees will receive their payments between 17-26 July depending on the last digit of their allocation number, while Bağ-Kur retirees will receive their payments between 25-28 July. In the event of a possible delay, retirees will withdraw their previous pensions, and the raise difference will be sent as an additional payment after the law goes into effect.

The total cost of the regulation to the state is calculated to be 79 billion lira. The difference that will arise for all retirees whose base pension falls below the new base salary will be covered by the Hazine ve Maliye Bakanlığı. The number of retirees receiving the lowest pension, which was 1.2 million in 2022, is expected to exceed the 5 million threshold for the first time with this new raise.
