Galler Aims to Become World Leader in Cycling Tourism While Preparing for Tour de France

Galler is experiencing the excitement of hosting a stage of the Tour de France for the first time in the country's history in 2027. The Galler Government sees the arrival of one of the world's largest annual sporting events in their country as a unique opportunity to boost tourism and promote cycling. A year before the race begins, a special event was held at Caerphilly Kalesi under the leadership of Birinci Bakan Rhun ap Iorwerth. The Galler stage of the historic race will take place on 4 Temmuz 2027, and the third stage, known as Stage 3, will start from Welshpool. Cyclists will complete eight different categorized climbs on this challenging course to reach the final destination, Cardiff. At this booth, Galler's magnificent cycling routes and outdoor attractions are being promoted to international visitors. Additionally, a Carmarthenshire-based local company named Cycle Champs also participated in the event with balance bikes that were featured in this year's race opening ceremonies. A special effort is being made to ensure that local businesses and Galler products become visible on this global platform.

Practical digital solutions are also being implemented to ensure that tourists continue to flock to the region in the post-race period. The Galler Government is developing a new online route planning tool that will allow visitors to easily discover and plan cycling routes across the country. Furthermore, the 'Bisikletçi Karşılama' (Cyclist Welcome) program, which encourages accommodation facilities offering special amenities for cyclists, is being expanded. Former Tour de France champion and Galler's new Bisiklet Elçisi Geraint Thomas believes his country has everything needed to attract cyclists worldwide. Thomas stated that Galler's roads and landscapes shaped him as an athlete, expressing that the country offers unique routes for cycling enthusiasts of all levels. Nicholas Ball, a business owner in Caerphilly, stated that they see the event as an international showcase and are looking forward to attracting new visitors. Meanwhile, Caroline Spanton, Baş Müdürü of the Beicio Cymru organization, added that this race should be seen not just as a single-day show, but also as a powerful catalyst to increase participation in the sport of cycling.
