The seventh edition of the Ghana Investment and Trade Week (GITW) was organized to increase direct foreign investments in the country and to strengthen its position as a gateway to the West African market. The event's organizing company, MIE Events, stated that this annual trade fair makes a significant contribution to the country's economic development. MIE Group President David Wang emphasized that the fairs held in previous years successfully brought together investors from countries such as China, India, and Turkey with Ghanaian businesses. Wang also stated that these commercial connections led to the establishment of new production and industrial centers in Ghana. He added that the company's ten years of experience in Ghana has given them great confidence regarding the opportunities in the region.

This year's summit was shaped particularly in line with global sustainability goals and the country's green economy vision. Renewable energy, construction, and green technologies are among the most important focal points of the event. Solar energy solutions stand out as one of the most critical elements planned to be integrated into the country's industrialization process. Additionally, the 2026 event aims to bring together participants from more than ten countries and hundreds of speakers, creating thousands of business connections. The participation of representatives from many countries such as Libya, Rwanda, and Italy reveals the event's international impact.

MIE Group Vice President Uur Ahmed stated that the summit was established to support Ghana's comprehensive economic transformation agenda. It was noted that, in particular, the government's '24-Hour Economy' initiative plays a critical role in encouraging foreign investments. Sectors such as energy, transportation, smart cities, and electric mobility were directly linked to the country's future growth priorities. Ahmed added that the aim is for international companies to closely observe local opportunities and form new partnerships for factory setups. Ghana's status as a trade hub in West Africa was evaluated as the greatest competitive advantage facilitating the achievement of these goals.

Within the scope of the event, the government's industrialization strategies were also discussed in detail. The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat announced comprehensive plans to transform the country into a production-oriented economy. Senior Presidential Advisor Dr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh emphasized that Ghana needs to reduce its dependence solely on raw material exports. It was stated that increasing local production and strengthening competitiveness in the industry are essential for the country's long-term development. In line with this vision, special importance is given to ensuring affordable and uninterrupted energy supply so that industrial facilities can operate without interruption.

It was announced that a giant 1.5-gigawatt solar energy project is being worked on to support sustainable industrial growth. While the project is planned to be supported by battery energy storage systems, the construction of the first 100-megawatt facility is expected to begin very soon. Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) CEO Dr. Mary Awusi reminded that the government offers many incentives to investors, such as tax exemptions and customs duty exceptions. It was expressed at the event that cooperation between traditional leaders and the private sector is of vital importance for regional development. The fair, which lasted for three days and was held concurrently with the Africa Build Show and MEGAWATT Africa events, marked the beginning of a new era for the country's economic future.
