Hindistan Unveils Official Kit for 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Hindistan Olimpiyat Birliği (IOA) held a grand farewell ceremony in new Delhi for the Hint contingent participating in the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Ahead of this major sporting extravaganza to be held in Glasgow, the ceremonial and competition apparel for the national athletes was officially unveiled to the press and the sports community. High-profile figures such as Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, IOA President P.T. Usha, and İngiltere'nin Hindistan High Commissioner Lindy Cameron accompanied the event. Additionally, Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao and chef de mission Rohit Rajpal were present at the ceremony, wishing the athletes success. This colorful and enthusiastic ceremony aimed to boost the morale of the athletes who will represent their country on the international stage.

For the games to be held in Glasgow between 23 Temmuz and 2 Ağustos, Hindistan will field a strong contingent of 124 athletes, including both para and able-bodied athletes. This contingent will fiercely compete for medals in 10 different sports, including athletics, boxing, weightlifting, gymnastics, judo, cycling, lawn bowls, swimming, and parasports. The athletes are greatly excited to represent their country in the best possible way after years of intense training and sacrifices. This large team will have the opportunity to showcase Hindistan's versatile sporting power and talents to the world. Aiming to collect medals especially in historically strong disciplines, the contingent will sweat to achieve a good standing in the overall rankings.

One of the most notable moments of the ceremony was the display of the official 'Team Hindistan' kit, designed by Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports. Inspired by the 'Invisible Trajectories' theme, the design of the kit reflects the mobility and sensitivity of the athletes through graphic patterns that symbolize their sporting journeys. The design team achieved a modern and aesthetic look by reflecting the athletes' in-field dynamics into the apparel. During the launch program, athletes showcased both their ceremonial attire and competition kits by walking on the podium. This interactive fashion show highlighted the stylish and performance-oriented structure of the apparel.

Addressing the gathering, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hindistan has built a world-class sports ecosystem that supports its athletes at the highest level. Minister Mandaviya stated that the athletes are "ambassadors representing the excellence, determination, and ambition of New Hindistan," urging them to fulfill their duties in Glasgow fearlessly. He added that the government stands behind every athlete and continues to provide all the necessary support to bring glory to the country. IOA President and legendary former athlete P.T. Usha also expressed that the years of dedication and discipline shown to wear the Hint jersey have not been in vain. Usha emotionally stated that the athletes carry the hopes and prayers of billions of Hintlis as they head to Glasgow.

At the end of the event, the Hindistan Olimpiyat Birliği extended its gratitude to the corporate sponsors supporting the contingent on this great journey. The financial and moral support provided by leading organizations such as Reliance Foundation Sports, Yes Bank, JSW Inspire, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Adani Sportsline, and Amul played a critical role in the Hint athletes' preparation process.
