Kıbrıs Senfoni Orkestrası to Host International Opera Competition and Masterclass

The Kıbrıs Senfoni Orkestrası will host a highly prestigious International Masterclass and Competition for opera artists between 20-25 Eylül. This significant cultural event offers young and talented opera artists unique opportunities for both artistic development and professional visibility. The artistic vision of the event is being shaped under the guidance of the Kıbrıs Senfoni Orkestrası's Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Myron Michailidis, and the internationally recognized Kıbrıslı baritone Kyros Patsalides. The masterclass, which will be conducted under the mentorship of these two esteemed figures, aims to provide participants with a high-level artistic development environment. Artists will receive critical assessments from these experienced names, who will guide them throughout their careers, both in terms of technique and stage performance. Feedback from such masters will help young opera artists enrich their repertoires and reinforce their stage confidence. In addition to the first and second prizes worth a total of 8.000 Avro and 3.000 Avro, the traditional 'Kıbrıslı Sanatçı Ödülü' will also be presented to successful individuals. The first and second prizes offer the flexibility of being awarded as scholarships to participants, whether they are graduates or current students. Furthermore, beyond the monetary awards, winning artists will have the privilege of signing contracts with various prominent institutions over the next three art seasons. These concerts and collaborations encompass esteemed organizations such as the Kıbrıs Senfoni Orkestrası, Selanik Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası, Orta Makedonya Bölgesi Kültür Merkezi, and the Kültür ve Kongre Merkezi in Kandiye (Heraklion), Girit. Such professional contracts constitute an invaluable stepping stone for young musicians to rapidly advance their careers.

Candidates eligible to participate in the competition must have been born between 1 Ocak 1990 and 25 Eylül 2008, and hold a valid school diploma from Kıbrıs or abroad. All candidates meeting these criteria must complete their applications by 22 Temmuz. Following the evaluation of applications, the process for determining the masterclass participants and finalists will take place between 20-24 Eylül. The grand final competition concert will be staged on 25 Eylül at the historic Pallas Tiyatrosu, accompanied by the Kıbrıs Senfoni Orkestrası.
