Price Hike for 200 Grams of Pide Bread in Malatya: Price Becomes 17,50 TL

Due to rising input costs in Malatya, bread prices were increased again after 9 months. The price of 200 grams of pide bread increased from 15 TL to 17,50 TL, effective from Wednesday, 15 Temmuz 2026. The decision was announced via social media by Malatya Fırıncılar Unlu Mamuller ve İmalatçılar Odası President Mehmet Büyükelçi.

President Büyükelçi stated that the price increase became inevitable due to the hikes in essential production items such as flour, yeast, firewood, and labor, and that bakers are under cost pressure. In the statement regarding the new tariff, it was noted that the price increase would be applied simultaneously across the city.

This increase in the price of bread, a staple consumer good in Malatya, where the post-earthquake recovery process is ongoing, will directly affect families' budgets. The price of bread, which was raised from 12,50 TL to 15 TL in October last year, saw a new increase of 2,50 TL due to the persistence of cost inflation.
