Joint Ministerial Committee Touts Base MHIT Pilot By End July

The Joint Ministerial Committee on Private Healthcare Costs (JMCPHC) in Malaysia aims to pilot the government's Base MHIT product by the end of July. This follows a Public Accounts Committee report on rising health insurance premiums and private hospital charges. The JMCPHC stated that the PAC's recommendations align with the Reset strategy, which includes reforms such as the phased adoption of Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) payment and greater transparency. However, questions remain about how the pilot will work, including whether waiting periods will be waived and what happens if the pilot fails.
