Clash Between Police and Armed Robbers in Malir: 1 Dead, 2 Police Officers Wounded

A fierce gun battle has occurred between the Shah Latif Police Force and armed criminals in the Malir area of Karachi, Pakistan. During the intense gunfire that took place around Qaidabad, a wanted criminal lost his life, while two police officers sustained injuries of varying degrees. In the aftermath of the incident, security measures have been tightened in the area, and it has been reported that one criminal managed to escape from the scene. The weapons and a vehicle left behind during the escape have been seized by police teams and registered as evidence. Following this dramatic incident, urgent instructions have been issued by authorities to ensure the best healthcare services are provided for the treatment of the wounded police officers.

Looking into the details of the incident, it is understood that a critical development took place while a patrol vehicle belonging to the Shah Latif police was carrying out a routine patrol duty on the National Highway in the direction of Qaidabad. The patrol team spotted a white Toyota Corolla that had been pulled over and was in a suspicious condition on the side of the highway. As the police officers exited their vehicle to inspect it, they noticed at least two armed individuals waiting outside the car. When the police officers approached to check the identities of these individuals and search the vehicle, the armed suspects opened fire, intervening in the situation. This sudden attack caused massive panic in the area, and as security forces returned fire, a fierce clash broke out.

As a result of the gunfire during the clash, it was reported that a police officer named Ghulam Abbas was severely wounded after a bullet struck his abdomen. At the same time, officer Zubair, who was acting as the driver of the patrol vehicle, sustained minor injuries after a bullet passed through his hand. Amidst this turmoil and confusion, one of the armed suspects managed to escape using a nearby gasoline station route. The identity of the suspect who lost his life at the scene has been determined as Nazar Gul, son of Shabbir, also known as Chidano. The body of the suspect killed in the clash and the injured police officers were immediately dispatched to the nearest hospital for initial interventions and necessary medical treatments.

In statements made by security units, it was emphasized that the slain suspect named Shabbir was an extremely dangerous criminal and was wanted in connection with numerous serious criminal cases. This individual has countless prior convictions, particularly registered at the Sharafi Goth and Qaidabad police stations, including armed robbery, clash with police, assault on civil servants, and other major crimes. During searches conducted following the incident, a pistol, two spare magazines, and a mobile phone were recovered from the suspects. Additionally, the Toyota Corolla used by the criminals and found suspiciously parked has been towed to the police station and impounded to serve as evidence. These findings indicate the level of organized structure this criminal network possesses in the region.

Following this incident, Sindh Province Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar made a statement regarding the matter and praised the Malir police teams. Minister Lanjar conveyed his congratulatory messages to the Acting Director of the Eastern Region (DIG East), the SSP of Malir, and the Shah Latif police for their timely and courageous intervention against the criminals. Furthermore, strict instructions have been given to authorities to closely monitor the health condition of the injured police officers and to provide them with the highest quality medical facilities. The Minister stated that operations against criminal gangs and elements responsible for social evils will continue decisively under all circumstances without any discrimination. Finally, it was also expressed by authorities that a comprehensive operation has been launched to apprehend the armed criminals who managed to escape and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
