Armed individuals attack police forces in Ciudad Valles, Mexico

In Ciudad Valles, located in the San Luis Potosí state of Mexico, members of the Investigation Police (PDI) were attacked by armed civilians. As a result of gunfire opened on police teams patrolling the Valles-El Naranjo highway, no one was injured or killed, while the suspects who carried out the attack fled the scene.

Following the incident, a large number of police and military forces were deployed to the region. Although security forces launched large-scale search operations in the surrounding areas to capture the suspects, the attackers have not yet been reached. After the police returned fire and initiated a chase during the attack, the front of the patrol vehicle was damaged and became immobilized.

This incident occurred just a few days after the announcement of the decision to reinforce the state's Highway Security with national guard troops. Citing security concerns in neighboring states, officials had announced that they took new measures to increase inspections in border areas.
