1 Person Killed in Accident Where TIR Hit Truck in Şanlıurfa, Those Moments on Camera

Shocking details have emerged regarding the traffic accident that occurred yesterday afternoon around 15.00 on the Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir highway, resulting in the loss of one life. In the incident at the Kırlık location, another TIR coming from behind violently crashed into a truck that was waiting near the road for an undetermined reason. The impact was so severe that as a result of heavy damage to the front section and driver cabin of the TIR, the driver's compartment detached from the chassis, was dragged for meters, and was hurled to the other side of the road. While other drivers passing through the area at the time of the accident realized the urgency of the incident and immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center, ensuring the dispatch of teams. A large number of health, fire department, gendarmerie, and police teams were dispatched to the scene, and upon their arrival, an intense rescue operation was initiated to reach the drivers trapped inside the vehicles and waiting for help. Fire department teams carried out a meticulous and arduous struggle with professional equipment to rescue the drivers trapped in the TIR's driver cabin and the truck. The drivers, who remained trapped in the dragged and shattered vehicle, were extracted from their location as a result of the intense efforts of the fire department teams and were handed over to the health teams on an emergency basis.

In initial examinations, it was determined that A.S. (44), the driver of the TIR involved in the accident whose cabin detached and was dragged for meters, lost his life at the scene due to the blows he received. The truck driver H.K., who was in the other vehicle and affected by the accident, was taken to Viranşehir State Hospital by ambulance after the initial intervention by the health teams who arrived at the scene, depending on the severity of his condition. It was learned that the health condition of the truck driver, who was hospitalized, is being closely monitored, and checks are continuing regarding whether there is a life-threatening risk.

On the other hand, new security camera footage, which constitutes the most concrete evidence regarding how the accident occurred, was shared with the media. In the footage fully captured by the security camera of a workplace on the roadside, the moments when the TIR coming from behind crashed into the truck, which was waiting motionless on the roadside, were seen clearly. The moments when the cabin detached from the TIR and was violently thrown onto the road as the pressure on the driver's cabin increased due to the violence of the collision were recorded second by second on the security camera records. The footage also revealed the scattering of both vehicles and the extent of the destruction following the accident.

While gendarmerie and police teams conducted a detailed examination at the scene and collected vital evidence, a technical and judicial investigation was initiated to determine the cause of the accident and possible negligence or fault factors. After the detailed examination of the vehicles was completed, they were removed from their location with the help of a tow truck, and the damage to the road was repaired. The traffic flow, which was provided in a controlled manner for a while due to the accident, returned to normal following the completion of the examinations and the cleaning of the road.
