Heat Waves Are Affecting All Living Things

DEM Party Mersin MP Perihan Koca made evaluations regarding the effects of climate change and extreme heat waves. Stating that the consequences of the climate crisis worldwide are becoming more pronounced every year, Koca pointed out that temperature records are being broken one after another, both on land and at sea. Koca stated that extreme weather events, heat waves, and the rise in air and sea temperatures have serious consequences for living organisms. Referring to the heat waves experienced in Europe this summer, Koca stated that more than 22,000 people lost their lives due to extreme heat. Koca emphasized that the emerging picture is not only an environmental but also a social problem, and that not all segments of society are equally affected by extreme heat. Stating that the effects of the climate crisis should be evaluated together with class and social inequalities, Koca pointed out that working and living conditions should be made safer against extreme heat.
