5-year-old Manisha rescued from rubble after 60 hours in Nepal

Following a flash flood disaster caused by a glacier collapse in Nepal, 5-year-old Manisha Magar was rescued alive after spending 60 hours under the rubble. On Saturday, August 29, near Syabrubesi in Rasuwa district, search and rescue teams heard faint signs of life. The teams initially thought it was a cat, but they found the little girl trapped under the mud.

The rescue operation lasted approximately two hours and Manisha was pulled out alive. The girl was initially almost unresponsive; the rescue team requested a helicopter, but evacuation was not possible due to bad weather conditions. The child was taken to a rescue camp, regained consciousness after being given water and boiled rice water.

Although Manisha suffered trauma, her condition was reported as stable. On Saturday afternoon, she was airlifted to the pediatric emergency department of Kathmandu University Hospital. On Sunday, August 30, she was reunited with her family at the hospital. Authorities stated the flood was caused by a glacier collapse.
