Millions of dollars in donations raised for the family of the Colombian who lost his life in an ICE operation in the USA

Great interest has been shown in the donation campaign launched for the family of 26-year-old Colombian Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, who lost his life during an operation by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The GoFundMe page opened for the young man, who left behind a widowed wife and a three-year-old daughter, has so far raised over 310,000 dollars from more than 6,100 donors.

It was stated that the funds, which will be managed by Durán's sister, will cover legal expenses, funeral costs, and the sending of the young man's remains to Colombia. It was learned that Durán, a native of Bucaramanga, lived in the USA with a legal work permit and provided for his family by working as a courier and at a veterinary clinic.

The incident occurred during an immigration operation in the city of Biddeford, located in the state of Maine. While US officials claim that shots were fired due to the vehicle's attempt to flee the checkpoint, the office of Maine Senator Angus King confirmed that Durán was not the primary target of the operation. The absence of body cameras on the involved agents has led multiple state agencies to investigate the incident.
