ABD Conducts New Military Operation Striking More Than 80 Targets in İran

The Amerika Birleşik Devletleri announced that it has launched a comprehensive new military operation against İran, successfully striking more than 80 targets with precision munitions. According to an official statement from the ABD Merkez Komutanlığı (CENTCOM), this operation is a direct response to attacks carried out by İran against three commercial vessels transiting the Hürmüz Boğazı. The increasing threats to civilian maritime traffic in the region paint a concerning picture for international waterway security. This development has plunged the future of the already fragile temporary ceasefire and agreement process between the two countries into great uncertainty. Among the struck targets are İran's air defense systems, coastal radar stations, command and control networks, and dozens of small boats belonging to the Devrim Muhafızları.

The vessels targeted and damaged by İran include the Marshall Adaları-flagged M/T Al Rekayyat, the Suudi Arabistan-flagged M/T Wedyan, and the Liberya-flagged M/T Cyprus Prosperity. İran Devlet Televizyonu (IRIB) confirmed that six projectiles fell in the Taheroui pier area and that six separate explosions occurred on Keşm Adası. Additionally, it was reported that numerous consecutive explosions took place in Bender Abbas, an important İran port city, and the city of Sirik. This situation demonstrates that the ABD's military operation directly targeted İran's critical southern coastlines and maritime gates, which provide its connection to the Hint Okyanusu. However, the ABD Merkez Komutanlığı avoided sharing detailed public information regarding exactly which points were hit during the operation.

Alongside military actions, the Washington administration also implemented comprehensive economic sanctions to increase pressure on Tahran. The ABD Hazine Bakanlığı officially revoked the 'Genel X Lisansı', which allowed certain transactions related to İran oil as part of the agreement reached between the two countries on 21 Haziran. Following the revocation of this license, the 'X1 Lisansı', which envisages a new process for the orderly wind-down of existing activities, was put into effect. An unnamed senior American official emphasized that İran's actions in the Hürmüz Boğazı are unacceptable and that it must absolutely face sanctions. This decision proves that attempts are being made to isolate İran through economic channels as well, and that the regional power struggle extends beyond the military dimension.

This latest wave of conflict brings with it allegations that the temporary peace agreement between the parties has been violated by both sides. The ABD and İran, constantly accusing each other of breaching the terms of the agreement, stand on the brink of a diplomatic crisis. CENTCOM stated that the attacks against İran were a retaliation for the obstruction of civilian maritime activities, adding that ABD forces remain on high alert in the region. Furthermore, this incident was recorded as Amerika's first direct military intervention since the previous operations at the end of the month.
