US-Iran War Escalating: Conflict Spreads to the Strait of Hormuz

Military conflicts between the US and Iran have been taken to a new dimension. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it carried out the third wave of attacks against Iran within the last 24 hours, striking military targets around the Strait of Hormuz. It was stated that coastal defense systems on Greater Tunb Island and military facilities around Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, and Ahvaz were targeted in the attacks.

In response, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards carried out attacks on US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan in retaliation. While sirens sounded in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan announced that their air defense systems intercepted missiles and UAVs allegedly originating from Iran. In Iran's attacks, at least 7 Iranian soldiers lost their lives as a barracks in Sistan-Baluchestan was struck, while it was reported that a total of 30 civilians have been killed in recent days' attacks in the country.

The tension between the parties has also reached a critical level in the Strait of Hormuz, the heart of global oil trade. While Iran argues that it will keep the strait closed as long as the US does not accept its legal demands, the US claims that the strait is open and accuses Iran of attacking commercial ships. During this process, it was reported that there has been a significant drop in commercial ship traffic passing through the strait, and additionally, Iran has threatened to next close the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
