12.4 Million Naira Raised for Newborn Babies in Charity Race Held in Abuja

The sixth edition of the Run Club Abuja (RCA) Charity Half Marathon, held in the Nigerian capital Abuja, was organized to save the lives of newborn babies. The 12.4 million Naira revenue generated from this year's event will be used to purchase vital neonatal equipment for two public hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

With the funds raised, devices such as incubators, nebulizers, and resuscitators will be provided to hospitals located in the Abaji and Kuje area councils. Due to the limited access to special newborn care services in these regions, the equipment will make a significant contribution to the goal of reducing infant mortality rates.

Although the event started with about 100 participants in its first year, this year it brought together 1,000 runners from all over Nigeria. The race, whose main sponsorship was undertaken by Norrenberger Group, which has supported the event for three years, also included international participants; the organization has become a platform that combines sports and philanthropy.
