Project to transform Adıyaman's future restarts after earthquake revisions

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider announced that work has resumed on the revised Koçali Dam Project in Adıyaman following the earthquake, with completion targeted for 2028. The project will significantly increase the region's agricultural irrigation capacity and contribute to economic development. Work was temporarily halted due to the earthquake but has now accelerated after necessary revisions. Officials state that thousands of acres of land will be irrigated once the dam is completed.

The Koçali Dam stands out as one of Adıyaman's largest infrastructure projects. The project includes the construction of the dam body, irrigation canals, and energy units. Deputy Minister Gizligider emphasized that the dam will provide great benefits to the region both agriculturally and in terms of energy. The revisions made after the earthquake are said to have made the project more resilient. Work is reported to be progressing according to the planned schedule.

Adıyaman was one of the provinces most affected by the major earthquakes in 2023. Many infrastructure projects were reassessed and revised after the disaster.
