Ankara taxi drivers prepare for NATO Summit

Preparations are in full swing across the capital Ankara ahead of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit scheduled for July 7-8. As part of these efforts, taxi drivers are also making special arrangements to welcome foreign guests in the best possible way. Mehmet Yiğiner, President of the Turkish Drivers and Automobile Federation (TŞOF), stated in a press release that taxi drivers will represent the country during the summit and therefore bear a great responsibility. Yiğiner emphasized that taxi drivers are the first people guests encounter upon leaving the airport, making their role critical for promoting Ankara and reflecting Turkish hospitality.

During the summit, taxi drivers will wear gray trousers and white shirts to maintain a neat appearance. Additionally, they will offer Turkish delight, cologne, and cold water in their vehicles to introduce Turkish culture and provide a refreshing experience in the hot weather. Yiğiner explained that this initiative is designed to showcase Turkish hospitality and create an unforgettable impression on the guests. He also noted that the vehicles will be kept clean and tidy, and all drivers have been instructed to adhere to these standards.

As part of the summit security measures, a "red zone" application will be implemented at airports, the summit venue, protocol routes, and areas where delegations will stay. This measure aims to enhance security and regulate traffic flow. Yiğiner stressed that taxi drivers must be extra cautious in these zones and strictly follow the directions of security forces. He also highlighted the importance of courtesy and a smiling face towards foreign guests, urging drivers to set an example with their professional demeanor.

Mehmet Yiğiner stated that this significant event will once again demonstrate Turkey's position in the international arena. He noted that hosting the NATO Summit in the capital Ankara is a great opportunity to showcase Turkey's diplomatic strength and hospitality.
