First Hearing Held in the Case Regarding the Death of Helin Nama in Antalya

In the case regarding the death of 24-year-old Helin Nama, who lost her life after being shot in the head with a gun in Antalya, her religiously married spouse İsmail K. began to be tried on the charge of 'intentional murder'. The defendant, who rejected the charges in the first hearing, claimed that the young woman committed suicide. The suspect, who was arrested after the incident, appeared before a judge for the first time after a six-month prison period.

In his statement, İsmail K. claimed that he loved his wife very much and had no reason to kill her. The defendant stated that on the day of the incident, they had an argument about asking for permission and informing each other, and claimed that his wife went to the bedroom and locked the door. He argued that when he forced the door open, he saw his wife pressing the gun against her forehead, and that the gun fired while he was trying to intervene.

In the case, where witnesses were also heard at the hearing, the family's view does not align with the defendant's claims. While Helin Nama's mother stated that her daughter was unhappy and felt regret the day before the incident, her father stated that he did not believe the death was a suicide. The trial continues at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court.
