Father hugged his son in the horrific accident in Bayrampaşa: Property can be recovered, but life cannot

A traffic accident that occurred in Istanbul’s Bayrampaşa district around 14.30 in the afternoon serves as a significant warning for drivers in the region. In the incident that took place on Akpınar Caddesi in Altıntepsi Mahallesi, an automobile attempting to turn at the intersection by violating a red light was struck heavily by another automobile. The vehicle lost control due to the severity of the impact and was hurled into a nearby wooded area, following which police and health teams were dispatched to the scene. In the initial check by the health teams who arrived at the scene shortly, it was determined that there were luckily no deaths or injuries, and the absence of life-threatening danger was a great source of comfort for everyone.

The father who arrived at the scene provided the greatest support to the driver, who was shaken by the shock of the accident. The father, comforted by the fact that his son was alive despite the heavy material damage, embraced his tearful son and tried to console him. In the emotional scenes reflected to bystanders and the press, the father emphasized that the value of life is supreme over everything else, drawing attention to the severity of the situation by saying, “We give thanks and praise that it came to property and not life. Details regarding the course of the accident became clearer with the statement of Edip Durmaz, who witnessed the event. Durmaz stated that he was coming from the right lane on his bicycle at the time of the accident, the traffic light turned yellow, and then red immediately after. According to Durmaz’s account, the driver of the Audi-branded vehicle increased his speed with the thought of “I can make it” at the yellow light and attempted to cross at the red light. However, the Audi driver, who failed to anticipate that the vehicle in front was waiting at the red light or trying to turn, attempted to brake but ended up colliding with the other vehicle with the front bumper of his car, resulting in a chain traffic accident.

It was learned that the Audi-branded vehicle overturned onto the sidewalk due to the force of the impact, and during this, its tire detached and damaged surrounding vehicles. It was stated by witnesses of the incident that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident was a woman and that she suffered great trauma due to the shock of the collision. While it is claimed that the Audi driver thought the other vehicle would wait as he approached at high speed but the other party did not notice the situation, the dangerous consequences such sudden movements can cause in traffic were once again brought to light.
