British Columbia Nurses Expanding Actions Citing Employer Pressure

Nurses serving in Canada's province of British Columbia (B.C.) have announced that they will further expand their actions as part of an ongoing collective bargaining agreement dispute with the provincial government. The BCNU cited increasing employer pressure and intimidation attempts in the workplace as the primary reasons behind the decision. In this context, the trafic actions, which were initially limited to specific points, will be gradually expanded to cover three major health facilities. However, approximately 67 percent of the members voted against this draft, leading to the rejection of the compromise. Prior to this, 98 percent of the union members had approved the strike mandate. The action decisions following the rejected draft reveal the nurses' determination regarding their working conditions and professional rights.
