Sultan of Brunei Reshuffles Cabinet: Gives Ministerial Roles to His Sons

The Sultan of Brunei officially announced a major cabinet revision on Thursday, bringing sweeping changes to the country's administration. Described as the first comprehensive government overhaul since 2022, this restructuring includes the creation of new ministries and the appointment of young princes to top leadership positions for the first time. The most prominent change was the transformation of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism into the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The Sultan explicitly stated that this restructuring is a strategic step taken to accelerate the development of priority sectors. On the other hand, the Sultan continued to retain the most critical and powerful offices, such as the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Finance, under his own authority, thereby reaffirming his power.
