Drug operation in Çanakkale and 5 districts: 15 detentions, large quantities of substances seized

Simultaneous, large-scale drug operations conducted in Çanakkale central district and the connected districts of Ayvacık, Biga, Ezine, Lapseki, and Yenice have concluded. Teams from the Narcotic Crimes Branch of the Çanakkale Provincial Gendarmerie Command planned the operation following work that utilized modern technological capabilities. The teams meticulously evaluated intelligence obtained using the PARS Analysis System and, within this scope, secured necessary search warrants from judicial authorities. Following preparations, operations were executed against addresses determined between June 23 and July 2, and detention orders were applied for suspects alleged to be manufacturing and trafficking drugs. The operations demonstrated the state's determination in the fight against drugs once again for the sake of ensuring peace and security in the region.

Within the scope of the operations, a total of 15 suspects associated with drug use and sale were caught and detained. It was determined that the suspects were accused not only of trading in drugs and stimulants but also of cultivating skunk and cannabis through illegal means. Gendarmerie teams staged simultaneous raids on 5 addresses in Çanakkale and 5 different districts, conducting the search processes with great meticulousness. In these raids, carried out based on search orders obtained from judicial authorities, detailed searches were made in the suspects' residences and areas of use. It was reported that the examinations found evidence related to both drug trade and usage. Based on the findings that these individuals were conducting these criminal activities in an organized manner, legal action was initiated against them.

Additionally, the Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch teams scored a significant accusation regarding an incident in Gökçeada, which added another dimension to the operations. It was learned that large quantities of products related to drug trade were seized in searches carried out regarding a smuggling incident intervened upon on July 2 in the Gökçeada district. As a result of the searches by the teams, 172 grams of skunk material and 7 grams of marijuana, ready for the market, were found. In addition to this, 10 grams of tobacco containing synthetic stimulants and 25 ready-to-use synthetic pills were seized as evidence. Along with these substances, 47 cannabis roots, 3 skunk plants, and 5 grams of cannabis seeds, which are botanical production materials, were safely collected and seized by the teams.

Following the examination of the seized materials, it was understood that not only the drugs themselves but also the equipment used in their production were part of a major organization. During the searches within the scope of the operation, devices such as drug paraphernalia, precision scales, and climate control systems were seized. In addition to these, it was reported that among the materials taken under surveillance by judicial authorities and processed, 25 liters of ethyl alcohol and anise oil used in alcoholic beverage production were found. The seizure of materials such as 2 hydrometers and dropper pipettes used in alcohol production strengthened the suspicion that the suspects were involved in smuggling activities in addition to drug trade. All these items were reported by law enforcement officers and stored as necessary evidence.

Finally, details regarding the legal procedures for the 15 detained suspects began to clear up. The suspects were referred to judicial authorities on charges of 'manufacturing and trading drugs or stimulants', 'buying drugs for use', 'accepting or possessing', and 'using drugs'. Following the questioning by judicial authorities, a decision was made to apply a judicial control measure to 2 suspects, and they were released. It was stated that the procedures for the other suspects continued at the police station and the investigation into the matter was being deepened. It was specified that similar operations carried out to prevent the disturbance of peace in Çanakkale center and districts would continue uninterrupted to clear criminal elements from the region.
