Disney+ takes on 'La que se avecina' with new comedy series 'Olivia' premiering July 1

Disney+ is launching its own original Spanish comedy series 'Olivia' on July 1, aiming to rival the success of popular shows like 'La que se avecina'. The platform has recognized the strong appeal of locally produced content in Spain, having previously found success with series from Atresplayer and RTVE. 'Olivia' will consist of six episodes released simultaneously.

The series brings together familiar faces from Spanish television comedy, most notably Pablo Chiapella and Fernando Tejero, both beloved for their roles in 'La que se avecina' and 'Aquí no hay quien viva'. Their reunion on screen is expected to generate significant excitement among fans. The ensemble cast also includes Nancho Novo, Kira Miró, María Barranco, and many other recognizable actors.

Despite its family-friendly comedy label, 'Olivia' is written by seasoned comedians including Flipy, Max Navarro, J.J Vaquero, and Miguel Esteban. The director, Juanma Pachón, is known for his work on 'Bienvenidos a Edén' and 'Física o Química: La nueva generación'.
